Health Check for Power BI

With my Power BI health check, I’ll use my experience and knowledge to bring you and your team up to the same level.

You’ve got a great team, and most things work fine most of the time. But your Power BI reports can be slow and unreliable, and your code base and coding standards are inconsistent at best, with everyone doing different things. Or maybe you’d just like a third party to look over your set-up and check that all is OK.

My health checks are priced at just £950 plus VAT.

Once I have received your order, I’ll be in touch with you and will usually start the health check within a few days, remotely and on Microsoft Teams.

Power BI Health Check

My two-day Power BI health check is priced at £950, and is designed to review your entire Power BI set-up. I will check that you’re implementing best-practice in your reports, dashboards, and the Power BI Service.

Power BI Platform & Performance Audit

Stop guessing why your reports are slow or your data is inconsistent.

I offer a deep-dive evaluation of your Power BI ecosystem to ensure it is secure, scalable, and performing at peak efficiency. My health check covers:

  • DAX & Query Optimization: * Identification of “Heavy” measures and calculated columns that slow down report interaction.

    • Review of Power Query (M) steps to ensure “Query Folding” is happening where possible, reducing the load on your SQL Server.

  • Data Model Architecture:

    • Validation of Star Schema design vs. Flat Tables (and why it matters for your memory footprint).

    • Review of relationships and cardinality (removing unnecessary Bi-directional filters).

  • Capacity & Resource Management:

    • Analysis of dataset sizes and refresh durations.

    • Gateway Configuration: Review of your On-Premise Data Gateway to ensure there are no bottlenecks between SQL Server and the Cloud.

  • Security & Governance:

    • Review of Row-Level Security (RLS) implementation.

    • Audit of Workspace permissions and sharing settings to ensure data isn’t “leaking” to the wrong users.

  • User Experience (UX) Audit:

    • Visual “clutter” assessment—ensuring dashboards provide “at-a-glance” insights rather than just being “Excel in the Browser.”

The Deliverable: A comprehensive Performance Report card highlighting “Quick Wins” and long-term architectural recommendations.
